When one views Mark Dickson's sculptures, one becomes instantly aware of his love for metal of all types. Welding, forging, and casting are the primary processes he uses in his work, but he is ever exploring and pushing the boundaries of the medium. Mark draws on knowledge acquired from independent studies at Sierra College in Rockland, CA, and at Florida State University and apprenticeship in design, fabrication, casting, foundry methods, and blacksmithing.

Mark's work is showcased throughout the Southeast in public and private collections, ranging from large-scale, fluid pieces for landscape architecture and open interiors to smaller, intricate vessels. Mark's sculpture style is modern, while tight design, light abstraction, and multiple metals, pigments, and patinas harken them to artifacts from the distant past.

Born in the San Francisco Bay area and raised in the foothills of northern California. Mark traveled to the United States before eventually making his home with his wife in Tallahassee, Florida, where they have lived for 22 years. He maintains a working sculpture studio in Tallahassee's Railroad Square Arts district.
