The Elevator Program is responsible for inspecting, licensing, and maintaining over 250 passenger and freight elevators on FSU's Main Tallahassee, Southwest, Sarasota, and Panama City campuses through the Florida Bureau of Elevator Safety. The program's mission is the safe and efficient vertical transportation of people and cargo from one location to another. At FSU, you will encounter hydraulic and traction elevators, wheelchair lifts, and inclined platform lifts. Dumbwaiters and cargo elevators are common in libraries, medical facilities, and commercial kitchens for moving objects between floors.
We are committed to continuously updating, installing, and maintaining equipment on campus and your feedback is always welcome. Our goal is to make all units safe, current, and vandal resistant. If you encounter an elevator, chairlift, or dumbwaiter that needs servicing, please submit a service request or call the service center at 850-644-2424. Be sure to report the unit’s license number or its general location. In case of an emergency, please use the phone button inside the unit to contact FSUPD directly.
