The arts are more than just a career for studio artist Juan Comas; they are a family affair. Growing up in a family of working artists, he recognized his passion for pursuing a career in the arts from a young age. An alumnus of Florida State University, Juan studied studio art before moving to New York City, where he worked as an art handler and fabricator for museums and galleries. He eventually returned to Tallahassee with his family and found a great fit as a designer at Master Craftsman Studio in 2013.

Juan has a wide range of interests in visual and performing arts, but he currently focuses on painting with oil, acrylic, and gouache on various materials and in different sizes. He draws inspiration from everyday interactions and events and his passion for the aesthetics of other places and cultures.

At Master Craftsman Studio, Juan is responsible for sculpting the College of Business award recipients annually, a task he finds both enjoyable and challenging task. Juan draws inspiration from the next generation and incorporates artistic elements in his studio work to highlight the diverse communities within the University, citing the stained-glass windows of Dodd Hall as an example. In addition to his role at Master Craftsman Studio, Juan showcases his artwork at various local venues and in New York City.
