In 2014, The City of Tallahassee made a bold 'Declaration' for public art by unveiling a highly anticipated 40-foot glass, metal, and light sculpture in the middle of the Gaines Street roundabout. Created by Master Craftsman Studio, located at the center of Gaines Street and Woodward Avenue roundabout, the sculpture is designed to resemble a spear. It features hundreds of glass panes arranged in an inverted cone, illuminated by 12 encircling lights. The glass panes change color depending on the light and viewing angle. The artwork, located at the edge of downtown Tallahassee and the southern boundary of Florida State University's campus, symbolizes the relationship between FSU and the city of Tallahassee. It also serves as a ceremonial marker for completing the Gaines Street redevelopment project.
