Installed in June 2013, the Tallahassee-Leon County Civil Rights Heritage Walk commemorates courageous "foot soldiers" integral to the local civil rights movement. Located at the corner of Monroe St. and E. Jefferson, sixteen terrazzo panels recount inspirational messages, notable protest signs, Leon County's 1960s lunch counter sit-ins, and the 1956 bus boycott. Brass footsteps and names honoring the "foot soldiers" embed the 72-foot-long sidewalk monument. Master Craftsman Studio is proud to be the creator of this monument, which took nearly six months to design, fabricate, cast, polish, and install.
