Permits & Compliance

Stormwater discharge is regulated by Federal, State and Local governments and agencies. FSU is considered a Phase II Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) and as such has been issued a Generic Permit for Discharge of Stormwater from Phase II Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. FSU also operates and maintains several stormwater ponds on University owned or managed properties. Operating Permits are issued by the City of Tallahassee and cover the proper maintenance and procedures required for the pond to function as designed.
