Track and Beach Volleyball Facilities Upgrades

The success of Florida State University Athletics highly depends on having reliable structures and systems in place. Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction is excited to announce the addition of two new storage facilities that will offer additional storage for the Track and Beach Volleyball teams.

Track Storage Facility

The new 850-square-foot storage facility along the home stretch of Mike Long Track is situated between the grandstand and restrooms. Completed in Fall 2023, it establishes a centralized equipment space for Men's and Women's Track and Field. The installation's purpose is two-fold: it increases storage capacity while creating additional space at The McIntosh Building for the continued growth of the Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine (ISSM). The storage facility has a Hardee board exterior and a metal roof with ample flexible storage space inside.

Beach Volleyball Storage Facility and Restrooms

The six-court collegiate volleyball complex between Mike Long Track and the Spirit Way Parking Garage needed a dedicated restroom facility and improved storage footprint. The new 303-square-foot structure replaced a storage shed considered an eyesore and introduced two all-gender restrooms. Adjacent to Court 5 on the complex's northwest corner, the structure features an aesthetic similar to the Track storage facility, with an added privacy screen for the restroom area fronting the court.

FSU Athletics coaches, equipment staff, and student-athletes utilize both facilities to improve operational efficiency. They feature paved surfaces and ramps to access both sites to maintain accessibility for individuals with various ambulatory needs. The new areas are connected to existing pathways to continue connectivity to the rest of campus.
