Annual Steam Outage Saturday, May 3 to Sunday, May 11, 2025

The campus-wide steam outage will begin on Saturday, May 3, and continue until Sunday, May 11. During this period, steam will not be available on campus as the system will be de-energized. The annual outage is necessary to maintain and upgrade the utility system.

Building occupants should experience minimal impact as Facilities does not typically use steam for building heating at this time of year. Research and science partners utilizing equipment like autoclaves will be impacted, as these devices rely on steam. If the autoclave has its own boiler, it will remain unaffected. Building cooling systems will not be directly affected; however, some areas may feel cooler than usual because steam will not be available to warm the cold air supply. If your workspace becomes uncomfortable, please contact the Operations Center at 850-644-2424.
