Planning, Design, and Construction Announces New Organizational Structure and Leadership Positions

Planning, Design, and Construction will transition to a new organizational structure aimed at undertaking the most extensive capital improvement portfolio in Florida State University's history. Considering workload and campus partner satisfaction, Planning, Design, and Construction is pleased to announce three new roles:

Mike Materna has accepted a new Senior Project Manager position in Planning, Design, and Construction. In his new position, Mike will oversee the capital improvement portfolios at each satellite campus (Sarasota, Panama City, and Immokalee) and lead the planning and project delivery for the new housing complex on the main campus. Mike's knowledge and experience will continue to be an asset to our campus partners, and his focused attention to this portfolio of work will ensure the attainment of desired project outcomes.

Steve Otto joins the Planning, Design, and Construction team as Associate Director of Project Management. Steve brings 35 years of experience in the design and construction industry, with over twenty-five years at the University of Missouri and the University of Iowa. With a background in construction management and extensive leadership expertise, he has successfully delivered complex, multi-million-dollar projects for universities and healthcare systems on time and within budget. Steve will lead the project manager team and oversee the successful delivery of campus capital improvement projects.

Tammie Otto also joins Planning, Design, and Construction as an Administrative Specialist and Assistant to the Chief Construction Officer. Tammie brings over 25 years of administrative and contracting experience in capital project management for the University of Iowa and the University of Missouri. She has extensive knowledge and expertise in bid management, maintaining good relationships with vendors and consultants, handling insurance matters, and preparing reports.
