Building Excellence: Tonyari Scott
05/27/2025
A successful project doesn’t happen by chance - it requires clear direction, coordinated effort, and strategic oversight from the beginning. Over the past six months, Tonyari Scott has brought exactly that to her role as a Project Specialist in Planning, Design & Construction, where she plays a crucial role in developing project scopes, coordinating with stakeholders, and managing communication to keep goals aligned and projects on track. At the core of her role is ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, while fostering collaboration and maintaining clear communication.
Before joining FSU, Scott gained valuable experience as a Biomedical Engineer at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. She also holds two Associate of Science Degrees in Computer & Electrical Engineering Technology from Albany Technical College. Scott then earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kennesaw State University (KSU) and is on track to graduate in May 2025 with a Master of Science in Engineering Project Management, also from KSU. She is a Certified Scrum Master, holds a Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and has earned a Project Management Certification from KSU.
In her day-to-day work, Scott likens her role to that of an orchestra conductor, managing various aspects of projects to ensure everything runs smoothly, even when unexpected disruptions arise. Her typical day begins with reviewing project timelines and budgets, followed by numerous emails, calls, and meetings to stay informed about developments. As a Project Specialist, she spends much of her time collaborating with stakeholders, answering questions, and negotiating with vendors while keeping projects on track. Her problem-solving skills are crucial to navigating challenges, and despite her busy schedule, she always finds time for a much-needed coffee break.
Outside of work, Scott enjoys a variety of hobbies including gaming, listening to music, and shopping. Passionate about reading, she even started her own book club. Whether she’s browsing her favorite stores like TJ Maxx, Home Goods, or Walmart, or spending time at bookstores like Books a Million or Barnes & Noble, you can often find Scott with a frappé in hand and a good book to enjoy.
On a personal note, Scott is the youngest of four siblings, with three brothers and one sister. She is also a proud dog mom to her fur baby, Baleigh, and is excited for the next chapter in her life as a 2026 bride to her best friend, Trey.
