Building Excellence: Jake Kenneth Robinson
07/22/2025
Jake Kenneth Robinson is a Mechanical Trades Technician at FSU Facilities, where he plays an essential role in maintaining the proper operation of plumbing and mechanical systems, particularly for University Housing. Robinson began his journey at FSU in May 2024 as a Construction Technician in the Labor/Construction Shop and stepped into his current position in January 2025. His day-to-day responsibilities include checking service tickets, reviewing ongoing projects, creating materials lists, and addressing urgent maintenance needs such as leaks, clogs, and malfunctioning equipment like downed ice machines in residence halls.
Before joining FSU, Robinson built a strong foundation in the plumbing trade, working with three plumbing companies in Tallahassee—most recently Keith McNeill Plumbing. He graduated from Franklin County High School in 2016 and initially pursued law enforcement studies at Tallahassee Community College before realizing his passion lay elsewhere.
What Robinson enjoys most about his role is the opportunity to continuously learn, especially when it comes to the complexities of FSU’s steam system.
"Jake Robinson is an outstanding employee who has been working hard since joining my team. He has been working on side stream projects throughout the dorms, repairing leaks, lending a hand when another tradesman needs help, and is willing to stay late when emergencies come up," shared Zale Bergozza.
Outside of work, Robinson finds peace and purpose in nature. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and feels a strong spiritual connection through the outdoors. Robinson’s life is rooted in resilience and family. At the age of 16, his mother suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed and in a nursing home. His father, now retired from FSU, relies on Robinson for support at home. Robinson also shares his life with his girlfriend of five years. Together, they’re embracing a more self-sufficient lifestyle—he’s currently raising chickens, building a rabbit run, and has plans to expand into more livestock in the future.
