Administrative support is the backbone of any successful organization, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly, communication stays clear, and teams remain organized and productive. At FSU Facilities, Kelvin Ford exemplifies this vital role. Since stepping into his position as Administrative Associate on November 22, 2024, he has quickly become an essential part of the team. In just over six months, Ford has taken on a broad range of responsibilities with professionalism and precision, helping to streamline office operations and support the department’s overall effectiveness.

Before joining FSU, Ford worked with the Wakulla County Board of Commissioners as the Supervisor of Neighborhood Beautification for five years. That role gave him valuable experience in leadership, organization, and community improvement—skills he now applies in his work at the university. Ford graduated from Franklin County High School and holds several professional certifications including Microsoft applications, an advanced Department of Transportation (DOT) certification through the State of Florida, and a diploma from Tallahassee State College’s Commercial Driving School.

In his current role, Ford’s responsibilities include recruiting, processing payroll, generating work orders, and providing administrative support to both supervisors and staff. A typical day for him might involve assisting with interviews and new hires, resolving payroll issues, or answering HR-related questions.

Ford’s favorite part about working in Facilities is the team he works with. He appreciates the strong sense of collaboration and support among his colleagues, which makes every day enjoyable and productive.

"Kelvin is a dedicated employee who strives to provide the best customer service possible," said Atari Timmons-Ross, Administrative Specialist for Facilities Maintenance. "No matter if it’s assisting a supervisor with a work order or answering questions about the recruitment process, he is always eager to help with a smile. It is a pleasure to have Kelvin as a part of the Facilities team."

Outside of work, Ford enjoys traveling, coaching youth football, and spending quality time with his family. He has been happily married to his wife, Vaneshia, for 14 years. Together, they have four children—Makhi (26), Shamyia (20), Jerzy (18), and Kelvin Jr. (17)—and a family dog named Messiah.
