Behind all Facilities communications materials and publications, including social media posts, the website, newsletters, and other materials, is the dedicated Facilities Communication team led by Facilities Communications Manager Chelsey Falb.

In her current role, Falb manages all internal and external communication aspects for all Facilities and Planning, Design & Construction units. This involves collaborating with leadership to engage and inform students, staff, faculty, and other university community members. Her role includes overseeing university-wide messaging for construction alerts, shutdowns, and Facilities-related emergencies, ensuring a unified brand presence, assisting with internal messaging for staff on Facilities and HR-related policies and procedures, and serving as the lead editor for all Facilities communications materials and publications, including social media, website, newsletters, and other materials. Lastly, Falb liaises between Facilities and the various academic units we serve and helps coordinate communication with FSU Facilities Liaison Officers (FLOs), contractors, vendors, the City of Tallahassee, and other stakeholders when necessary.

Falb has been at FSU and in her current role for one year. She was recently awarded the Rising Star Award at the F&A Appreciation Celebration to recognize her dedication and unique contributions to building out the Facilities brand and communication channels in her first year.

“In just her first year in Facilities, Chelsey has made a remarkable impact on our organization. Her dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to #BuildingExcellence are truly commendable,” said Elizabeth Swiman, Associate Director of Facilities.

Before joining FSU, Falb was a Marketing Coordinator at a multidisciplinary engineering firm working across the Southeastern US. Earlier in her career, Falb worked as a Community Development Administrator for a small island community outside of Savannah, Georgia, and as an Urban Design Assistant at an architecture and planning firm in South Florida. She holds a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor’s degree in geography from Florida State University.

When asked what an average day in her role looks like, Falb answered “Every day at Facilities is different!” She can often be found taking photos on job sites, writing copy, or collaborating with academic units and campus partners on how we can better inform the campus community about the improvements underway at FSU! Facilities also experience a lot of "all hands-on deck" situations, especially during events or urgent situations on campus.

Falb takes great pride in working for her alma mater, Florida State. “Anyone who has studied or visited in the shadows of FSU’s live oaks and gothic spires knows they are somewhere special. Our campus buildings and grounds are memorable and unique, and Facilities are the stewards of these sacred places. It's an honor to share stories about the hardworking people and systems that maintain the physical environment embodying Florida State's legacy,” said Falb.

Outside of work, Falb enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with my friends and family, and spending time outdoors – hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and going to the beach! She is married to her husband, Alex, and they have two boys, Elliot (6) and Logan (4). Their original baby is their German Shepherd mix rescue dog, Lobster, who is 13 years young!
