Building Excellence: Atari Timmons-Ross
11/07/2024
Facilities Maintenance provides world-class maintenance, repair, and construction services to the FSU community. For the Maintenance Department to run efficiently, there needs to be exemplary people behind the scenes, such as Atari Timmons-Ross. As of October 18th, Timmons-Ross is the new Administrative Specialist for Maintenance, where she performs administrative duties including recruiting, payroll, creating work orders, and ensures the office is running smoothly.
Timmons-Ross previously worked at Florida State from 2014 to 2017 as a Business Associate at the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy and rejoined FSU in June 2023. Prior to working at FSU, she worked at Tallahassee State College as an Admissions Navigator and Center Manager. Timmons-Ross holds her Associate of Science in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University (AIU), a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Human Services from Walden University, and is currently working towards her Juris Master in Employment Law & HR Risk Management at FSU.
She notes that no day is the same in her role. Still, a typical day could involve assisting a supervisor with interviewing and hiring their candidates, entering work orders, correcting payroll, or providing answers to HR-related questions. Her favorite part about working in Facilities is the people and making sure everyone gets what they need.
"Last year I nominated Atari for the Service with a Smile award which she won - I think that embodies her personality," said Cliff Wilhoit, former Administrative Specialist for Maintenance.
Outside of work, Timmons-Ross enjoys reading Amish fiction, going to her twins' sporting events, attending church, and spending time with family. She has been married to her husband, Harold, for 14 years and they have twin girls, Aliyah and Caliyah, who are 8 years old.
