Bio Unit One and Student Union Honored at North Florida Excellence in Construction Awards

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of North Florida Excellence in Construction Awards recognized two Florida State University projects at their awards ceremony on November 9, 2023. Bio Unit One (Childers Construction) received an Eagle Award in the Education: Postsecondary/Higher Education category for projects worth $10 - $25 million. The project transformed the 50-year-old laboratory building's third floor with ten new 660-square-foot state-of-the-art biomedical labs and complementary collaborative spaces, including core labs, support labs, offices, conference rooms, and communal areas.

The FSU Student Union (Ajax Building Company and Masonry Incorporated) was honored in the Education: Postsecondary/Higher Education category for projects worth $10 - $25 million. Initially erected in 1952, the modernized, larger student union was completed in 2022 and remains the heart of life and culture on the Florida State campus. The 269,000-square-foot, four-story building received an Eagle Award in the Institutional - Higher Education and the Exteriors - Higher Education category. Congratulations to Ajax Building Company and Masonry Incorporated on this achievement!
