Annual Steam Outage - May 4 - 12, 2024

The campus-wide steam outage will begin on Saturday, May 4, and continue until Sunday, May 12. During this period, steam will not be available on campus as the system will be de-energized. The annual outage is necessary to maintain and upgrade the utility system. Facilities is exploring ways to minimize such outages in the future. The work will ensure the system's safety and longevity.

As steam is not typically needed for building heating at this time of year, there should be minimal impact on most building occupants. Specific areas, such as autoclaves for our science and research partners will be impacted as they use steam for their operation. If the autoclave has its own boiler, it will not be affected. Building cooling will not be affected, but some areas may be cooler than usual due to steam being unavailable to temper the cold air supply. If your workspace becomes uncomfortable, please contact the Operations Center at 850-644-2424.

Facilities will update the campus in the event of any delay in steam restoration due to inclement weather or unexpected complications. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
