FSU Facilities Maintenance Zone Updates
Effective July 24, 2023
Facilities Maintenance would like to provide an update to our campus service model.
The week of July 24th, Facilities Maintenance staff will implement an updated Maintenance structure that will realign several of our staff groups. Moving towards more geographic-based Zones will improve staffing efficiencies, and the additional zone will improve our service to campus through a broader distribution of workload.
The updated campus Zones are listed below.
- Zone A
- Zone B
- Zone C
- Zone D
Student Affairs Zones(the building assignments in these Zones are unaffected)
- Housing East
- Housing West
- Union+ (all other Student-Affairs related buildings)
To assist in leading this new Zone structure, Facilities Maintenance recently added three new Area Manager (AM) positions as part of our zone staffing structure. The AMs now directly supervise the realigned Maintenance Zones, providing much needed oversight, coordination, and communication. These roles are critical in devoting more attention and support to the campus community as our Zones are typically the first responders of most Maintenance requests/emergencies.
Supporting documents, including new Zone maps, campus building Zone assignments, and an updated Maintenance org chart can be found below.
Other important changes:
- The Critical Systems shop will be renamed the Controls Shop and will focus on equipment connected to Building Automation System functionality such as drives, controllers, fume hoods, etc.
- The Rapid Response shop will be renamed the Mechanical Shop and will focus on the maintenance and repair of equipment such as fans, motors, pumps, etc.
Facilities Maintenance remains committed to reviewing our processes and practices on a routine basis, making the identified needed adjustments.
