Responsible for reviewing construction documents and conducting building inspections to ensure University construction and maintenance projects comply with the Florida Building Code and applicable regulations. Assists the University Building Official in overseeing Building Code Administration activities, supervising staff, coordinating daily operations, and supporting professional development. Collaborates with project managers, design professionals, contractors, and subcontractors to maintain code compliance throughout construction projects. Contributes to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to support building and fire safety, regulatory compliance, and the overall safety of University facilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct review of construction documents and construction inspections of University Building Projects for Compliance with Florida Building Code.
- Act as assistant to the University's Building Official in the accomplishment of the mission of the Building Code Administration section to ensure that construction and maintenance activities on University facilities comply with the appropriate regulations.
- Perform supervisory activities of BCA sections staff to include coordination of daily work efforts, educational opportunities and requirements.
- Interact with all construction project team members (University Project Manager, Design Professionals and Contractor and Sub-Contractor personnel) to ensure compliance with Florida Building Code is maintained.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures associated with the activities of the Building & Fire Safety sections.
