Building Excellence: Tripp Ryon
08/15/2025
From delivering clean water to ensuring proper drainage and waste removal, plumbing is an essential trade impacting nearly every aspect of daily life for students, faculty, and staff. Behind the scenes, skilled plumbers work tirelessly to maintain, repair, and improve these systems to keep facilities operational, safe, and comfortable.
In his role as a plumber for FSU Facilities, Tripp Ryon has quickly proven himself as a dedicated and capable member of the team. His commitment to supporting FSU’s mission and his camaraderie with fellow staff make him a valued asset in keeping the university’s infrastructure in top shape.
Ryon began as a plumber just two months ago after starting at the university in November 2024 as a maintenance mechanic in Zone D. Before joining FSU, he worked as a home inspector in Tallahassee and spent 20 years in the Florida Air National Guard’s heavy construction unit. During his time in the Guard, he served as superintendent of both the structures shop and the heavy equipment shop before retiring in 2023. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Emergency Services from the University of Florida.
In his current role, Ryon is responsible for repairing and maintaining plumbing systems for Zone D, which oversees FSU’s outlying buildings and properties such as the Southwest Campus and College of Law. His days often involve a variety of tasks, such as repairing water fountains and faucets downtown or addressing HVAC drain line issues at Innovation Park. He enjoys the satisfaction of fixing problems that directly support FSU’s mission, as well as the fellowship he shares with fellow staff members.
“Tripp is an asset to our Zone, as well as the university. He always expresses a can-do attitude and works well with his peers. On several occasions, I have heard that some of our customers have spoken highly of Tripp and what a pleasure it was having him work on a job they had requested. I am glad to have him as a part of our team,” said Bill Morgan, Zone D Maintenance Supervisor.
Outside of work, Ryon enjoys riding motorcycles and creating art. He is also a dedicated father to two children.
