Maintains and repairs electrical distribution systems and equipment up to facility service entry points, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery. Performs installation, troubleshooting, and repair of wiring, conduits, fixtures, motors, generators, and related electrical components in both renovation and maintenance projects.
Diagnoses and resolves power failures and electrical faults in above- and below-ground systems, using blueprints, work orders, and technical instructions. Supports contractors with utility identification, manhole access, and switching operations during equipment replacements, while providing project oversight as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintains primary electrical distribution system and equipment up to the line side of a facility's incoming service disconnect. Assists contractors when accessing manholes, identifying existing buried utilities, and performing 15KW switching functions during equipment replacements. Alters, maintains, and repairs wiring, conduits, fittings, and fixtures in the repair and renovation of buildings, including climbing as needed. Maintains oversight of projects and personnel as required.
- Locates and corrects power failures and short circuits in buildings, above and below ground. Reads and follows blueprints, oral instructions, and written repair orders.
- Performs installation and repair of electrical motors, generators, heaters, clocks, etc.
- Maintains records and timekeeping as required. Maintains tools and equipment in a safe and workmanlike manner. Performs other related duties as assigned. Drives University vehicles as necessary.
