Installs, repairs, and maintains campus steam and condensate systems, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related equipment. Troubleshoots system issues, assists with piping and pneumatic valve work, performs system flushing and cleaning, operates university vehicles, and follows safety and environmental best practices while supporting Facilities Maintenance operations..
Responsibilities
- Installs and repairs steam system components, including, but not limited to, pumps, regulators, valves, traps, strainers, coils, heat exchangers, autoclaves, sterilizers, cage washers, etc. Troubleshoots and determines the materials and equipment needed for a job. Drives University vehicles as required.
- Responsible for assisting in the installation and repair of pneumatic steam valves, radiator valves, traps, and steam and condensate pipes. Flushes and cleans hot water heaters, steam pits, storm drains, grease traps, and campus sewage lines.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Responsible for other duties as assigned within the department. Operates University vehicles and performs other related work as required in support of Facilities Maintenance.
