Supports campus waste management and recycling operations by collecting and transporting trash, recyclables, and cardboard materials using utility vehicles. Maintains cleanliness of assigned campus zones through litter removal, servicing outdoor receptacles and recycling stations, and pressure washing containers as needed. Assists with upkeep of the Waste Management Facility, including loading dock collections, grounds maintenance, and monitoring equipment conditions while reporting maintenance issues. Ensures a safe, clean, and sustainable environment for students, faculty, and staff while performing additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Empties small outdoor trash collection receptacles on campus and collects plastic bottles and cans. Transports waste and recyclable materials to the Solid Waste / Recycling department using a utility vehicle. Empties multi-stream recycling stations after university events. Performs monitoring and upkeep of campus for litter to ensure the cleanliness of assigned zones.
- Maintains a safe, clean, sustainable, and attractive environment for the students, faculty, and staff of our institution. Responsible for picking up pallets and items left on loading docks in support of cardboard collection throughout campus from designated sites and disposing of those materials into their properly specified compactors. Pressure washes trash receptacles as assigned.
- Ensures that all manual and power equipment is clean and in proper working condition and reports maintenance problems to the supervisor. Assists in keeping the Waste Management Facility's outdoor areas clean, grounds, fence lines, and roll-off container areas in the compound. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor or higher authority. Requires a valid driver's license for driving utility vehicles.
