Each year F&A takes time to acknowledge and celebrate employees who have demonstrated exemplary performance, and this year team members from Facilities took home quite a few accolades. These awards aim to recognize people who stand out as exceptional models of extraordinary performance. Awardees have been nominated by their peers and leadership, and embody qualities such as dependability, initiative, creativity, positivity, innovation, and service with a smile. This set of awards exists at one of the highest levels within FSU’s internal hierarchy, and Facilities couldn’t be prouder that so many of our people earned such a prestigious honor.

  • Aldea Coleman received the Silent Service Award
  • Tammy Copeland received the Above & Beyond Award
  • Martiza Howard received the Service with a Smile Award
  • Chattie Norwood received the Unsung Hero Award
  • Shenissa Robinson received the Rising Star Award

The Silent Service Award goes to an employee who consistently performs their job at a high level behind the scenes and with little direction.

Awardee - Aldea Coleman - Senior Custodial Worker, Facilities Building Services

Here is what his nominators had to say: “Mr. Coleman has assisted with a staffing supervisor shortage and completes his tasks while doing so. He has never complained, often times asking where else he can assist. He is very happy with his job and making a difference within his area and for his coworkers.”

The Above & Beyond Award goes to an employee who consistently goes the extra mile in the performance of their job duties.

Awardee – Tammy Copeland – Senior Custodial Supervisor, Facilities Building Services

Here is what her nominators had to say: “Miss Copeland’s ability to work with her staff and willingness to go above and beyond is clearly displayed whenever you walk into her area and speak with her staff. Her work experience and opinion is also greatly valued by upper management. She continues to volunteer for any special projects or staffing shortages in other areas to assist in completing tasks. She makes everyone feel welcome and important, all with a smile and very positive attitude. “

The Service with a Smile Award goes to an employee who consistently models exemplary customer service.

Awardee – Maritza Howard – Administrative Assistant, Facilities Building Services

Here is what her nominators had to say: “Maritza greets everyone with kindness, laughter, presenting a welcoming face to Building Services. She has also volunteered to assist with many committees on campus.”

The Unsung Hero Award goes to an employee who does a tremendous amount of critical work behind the scenes that has a huge impact on the university community.

Awardee – Chattie Norwood – Custodial Supervisor, Facilities Building Services

Here is what her nominators had to say: “During our staffing shortage, especially at the President's House, she has maintained her area at Westcott and the President’s House, all with short notice.”

The Rising Star Award goes to an employee who has made a tremendous impact in their first year.

Awardee - Shenissa Robinson - Custodial Supervisors, Facilities and Building Services

Here is what her nominators had to say: “Shenissa has a positive and can-do attitude. Never letting anyone or any problem stop her from accomplishing her goals. With customer and supervisor satisfaction, she has proven to excel in everything she sets out to do.”
