Robert Scott Cisson, ASLA
Director of Grounds & Landscape Operations

Scott Cisson has been with FSU Grounds since 2008. He provides oversight and direction of the Grounds Maintenance, Landscaping, Solid Waste Management and Athletic Grounds operations. He plans and coordinates the grounds/landscaping services needed for new construction and renovation plans. He develops and implements policies and procedures to establish constraints and controls relating to the services and activities of the Grounds department. Mr. Cisson prepares and monitors the annual Grounds budget. He previously directed the activities of the Grounds and Landscaping at Arizona State University (1986-2008). Mr. Cisson has a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas and 26 years of experience as a Landscape Architect.

Anton Sonkin
Associate Director of Grounds & Landscape Operations

Anton Sonkin has been with FSU Grounds since 2010 acting as a consultant in plan review of campus landscape development, initiating projects as well as working on assigned ones, and looking for opportunities to improve the landscape architecture of the campus. He prepares specifications for landscape projects, cost estimates for proposed improvements and make recommendations for improving unacceptable areas of campus. He serves as department liaison and technical specialist on new construction projects. He prepares guidelines for design and implementation of landscape architecture projects. He participates as an advisor and technical specialist in onsite inspections prior to University acceptance. Oversees and resolves problems. Schedule and monitor progress of internal projects, coordinate for optimum production in areas of content, personnel and cost. He has a Bachelor's of Science in Landscape Architecture from Arizona State University (1995).Mr. Sonkin has 15 years of experience and has 12 years experience as a Registered Landscape Architect in the state of Arizona.

David MacManus
Assistant Director of Grounds & Landscape Operations

David MacManus has worked with FSU Grounds since 2005. He acts a consultant in the selection and care of landscape plants and works to help ensure the health and proper maintenance of campus landscape plantings. He helps to monitor the quality of campus landscapes and makes recommendations for their improvement, provides input in decisions regarding plant care activities, provides oversight of nursery operations and assists with training of staff. He has a Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture from the University of Florida (1979) and 30 years of experience in horticulture as a nurseryman, as a grower and as a horticulturist in both wholesale and retail nurseries.

John Raulerson
Manager of Outdoor Amenities

John Raulerson has worked at FSU since 2000 and has been in grounds since 2011.He oversees the restoration, preservation and maintenance of outdoor accoutrements on the campus. He has a Master in Fine Arts with a concentration in metal casting and fabrication from UGA 1999. Mr. Raulerson has been working in the field of fine art and outdoor sculpture for 20 years.

Willie Wiggins
Facilities Specialist

Willie Wiggins has been in FSU Grounds since 1998. He manages the daily operations of Waste Management and Recycling and Grounds Maintenance activities. He is responsible for developing and recommending new and improved programs, procedures, and methods to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and management of solid waste reduction, disposal and recycling functions. He works closely with university departments and organizations to implement and promote disposal and recycling efforts. Mr. Wiggins tours the campus making assignments and inspecting work to ensure safety and efficiency. He inspects university facilities to determine the need for services, trash containers, dumpsters, and ground litter pick-up and offers direction to the Grounds Supervisors to ensure that campus grounds receive the attention they need. He previously served as the Grounds Supervisor Sr. Superintendent at Florida A&M University.

Isiah Jones
Supervisor, Grounds Maintenance Zones 3 & 4

Isiah Jones has been with FSU Grounds since 1990. He is responsible for developing and recommending new and improved programs, procedures and methods to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and management of the grounds in his area. He tours the campus, makes assignments, and inspects work locations of employees to ensure that personnel are performing their duties in a safe and efficient manner. Mr. Jones is a Florida Master Gardener (University of Florida/IFAS Extension).

Betsy Smith
Supervisor, Grounds Maintenance Zones 1 & 2

Betsy Smith has been with FSU Grounds since 2016. She is responsible for developing and recommending new and improved programs, procedures and methods to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and management of the grounds in her area. She tours the campus, makes assignments, and inspects work locations of employees to ensure that personnel are performing their duties in a safe and efficient manner. Ms. Smith has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Horticulture from the University of Florida. She has been working in the nursery, landscape and design profession for over 30 years on both coasts.

Randy Wright
Assistant Solid Waste Management Supervisor

Randy Wright started with FSU in 2006. His job is to assist Mr. Willie Wiggins in the operation of the Solid Waste& Recycling Center. He helps with the daily collection of recycling; removing of debris from around dumpsters and loading docks, emptying dumpsters around the dorms and off of the campus. He oversees the collection of recycle material inside of the offices on and off campus. He also assists in keeping the Solid Waste and Recycling equipment working. He previously supervised cleaning activities for FSU's Building Services.

Brian Donaway
Assistant Director of Grounds & Landscape Operations

Brian Donaway has been with FSU since 1999. Mr. Donaway spent 15 years as Head Groundskeeper for the FSU Athletic Facilities. He now oversees the Irrigation Crew, Turf Crew, Zone 5 Crew, and Spray Technicians. Brian received his training at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and has worked with the Cleveland Indians Spring Training Facility in Winter Haven, Fl.

Abbie Wright
Grounds/Landscaping Office Manager

Abbie Wright has been with FSU for 28 years. Ms. Wright is responsible for the management of personnel, administration and budgetary functions within the Grounds/Landscaping Department. She supervises the office staff to provide efficient workflow. Ms. Wright provides administrative assistance making recommendations regarding policies and procedures for the department. She assists in the preparation of the annual budget and coordinates the payroll and purchasing of Grounds. Ms. Wright is a graduate of FSU and FAMU.

Teresa Norton
Grounds/Landscaping Office Assistant

Teresa Norton has been with FSU for 27 years. She assists the office manager in coordinating the functions of the Grounds administrative office including preparing departmental reports, staffing the front office and maintaining accurate records. Mrs. Norton receives all incoming calls for work requests, and has the responsibility for taking messages and relaying them to appropriate units.

Robert Crawford
Supervisor, Grounds Maintenance Zone 1

Robert Crawford has been with FSU Grounds since 2018. He provides daily work assignments for crewmembers in Zone 1. Inspects work performed by employees evaluating their job performance. Mr. Crawford monitors grounds keeping tasks including watering of plant materials, trimming, mowing, edging, weed eating, raking and removing debris. Zone 1 covers the east end of campus including Westcott, Law School, Pepper Center, Hecht House, Sandels, CPD and Longmire, Music, Fine Arts and Jennie Murphee.

Carol Hayes
Supervisor, Grounds Maintenance Zone 2

Carol Hayes has worked with FSU Grounds since 2008. She provides daily work assignments for crewmembers. She inspects work performed by employees evaluating their job performance. Mrs. Hayes monitors grounds keeping tasks including watering of plant materials, trimming, mowing, edging, weed eating, raking and removing debris. Zone 3 covers the northwest side of campus including the Medical School, Psychology, Stone, and Sally Hall, King, Chemistry. Mrs. Hayes has 12 years of experience with grounds maintenance activities.

Levarius McClure

Shawn Cromartie
Supervisor, Grounds Maintenance Zone 4

Shawn Cromartie has been with FSU Grounds since 2003 He provides daily work assignments for crewmembers in Zone 4. He inspects work performed by employees evaluating their job performance. Mr. McClure monitors grounds keeping tasks including watering of plant materials, trimming, mowing, edging, weed eating, raking and removing debris. Zone 4 covers Nursing, Mendenhall A ,Mendenhall B, Speicher Tennis Complex, Campbell Stadium,Howser Stadium, Harpe / Johnson, Tully Gym,Wildwood Apartments, University Center A,B,C,D ,Wedge Bldg.,and the Black Student Union. Mr.Cromarie has over 20 years of experience with grounds maintenance activities.

Claudia Montany
Facilities Supervisor, Nursery

Claudia Montany supervises our plant nursery and provides direction for the activities of our planting crew. Ms. Montany has a Bachelor of Science degree from FSU in Art. She has been in the horticulture profession for 30 years' 28 years in the nursery industry and 2 years at Maclay Gardens State Park. She has served as a horticulturalist, retail manager, floral designer and as a landscape designer.

Tim Wallace
Irrigation Supervisor

Tim Wallace supervises the activities of our Irrigation Crew. Tim has been with FSU since 2017. He is a native of Nebraska. He has over 30 years of experience in the irrigation field. He owned an irrigation business in Colorado and also worked at Colorado State University as an Irrigation Tech. His last stop before joining FSU was a 3 ½ year stint in St. Kitts as the Grounds Director at Ross University.

Donald Brown
Facilities Supervisor, Mowing

Donald Brown has been with FSU Grounds since 1989. He supervises our Turf Maintenance Crew activities including aeration, fertilizing, over seeding, mowing, edging and debris removal. Mr. Brown has a wide range of experience in Grounds maintenance supervision.

Diane Staubitz
Pruning Crew Supervisor

Diane Staubitz has been with FSU Grounds since 2010. She has over 30 years of horticultural experience. She is a Florida Master Gardener and is an ISA Certified Arborist. Ms. Staubitz is responsible for the oversight of the FSU pruning crew. The crew’s responsibilities include the removal of dead, dying or damaged branches and diseased and insect infested plant portions and the proper pruning of campus ornamental shrubs and small trees for the maintenance of size and an attractive form, training of young trees, pruning to enhance flowering, and pruning to provide clearance and visibility and safety. Additional responsibilities include seasonal fertilization of trees and shrubs and the application of mulches.
