How do I surplus old IT equipment?
It is the department's responsibility to handle the correct disposal/surplus of their own equipment. This includes monitors, desktops, printers, UPS, laptops, projectors ect.
When disposing of old computer equipment/printers, there are three options:
If the equipment IS TAGGED:
- Complete a Property Change Form - http://control.vpfa.fsu.edu/content/download/3960/28649
- Forward the original form to Surplus via campus mail code: 2393 Att : Norm Munyon
- The form will then be reviewed and sent to the warehouse where upon they will contact you to arrange a pickup time.
If the equipment IS NOT TAGGED AND IT WORKS:
- Complete a Property Change Form - http://control.vpfa.fsu.edu/content/download/3960/28649
- Forward the original form to Surplus via campus mail code: 2393 Att : Norm Munyon
- The form will then be reviewed and sent to the warehouse where upon they will contact you to arrange a pickup time.
If the equipment IS NOT TAGGED AND IT DOES NOT WORK:
- Complete an Accountability Release Form - http://control.vpfa.fsu.edu/content/download/3956/28635
- Forward the original form to Surplus via campus mail code: 2393 Att : Norm Munyon
- The form will then be reviewed and sent to the warehouse where upon they will contact you to arrange a pickup time.
IMPORTANT: Please note that if the equipment is an old desktop machine/laptop, it must go via the Facilities IT department so the hard drive can be formatted BEFORE any of the above steps are taken.
